So,
Kono Light Novel
ga Sugoi! 2011.
Haganai ranking #2 is nice, but I find it somewhat odd how it's ended up so popular while previous works by the same author are still pretty much unknown. Especially considering how
Haganai is extremely similar to
Ranobe-bu.
Nekuroma was really good too.
It's the art, isn't it? Even if there's not much of a difference in the content, get a popular illustrator to do the cover and bam, huh? Damn it people, what do we say about judging a book by its cover?
Gah.
I've read five of this year's top ten series, and another two I haven't read yet but already have in my backlog, yet I still can't help but feel that the ranking is... I don't know, just wrong. I don't know, it just doesn't feel
right.
Baka to Test
to Shoukanjuu and SwordArt Online are the ones in my backlog, so discussing them will have to take place at a later date.
Index at #1. I think I've mentioned before how I just got totally bored halfway through the final battle of the third book. I'd actually grown pretty fucking bored by the first, and the second was pretty bad too. Of course that's just my opinion and tastes, maybe there're people who like it. You know, just like how there're people who eat dogs and monkey brains, or get turned on when watching people get enemas. I guess I just happen to fall in the minority group when it comes to liking Index.
I'll just leave this here.

Bungakushoujo is good, though I have to admit that I haven't been keeping up with it lately. It certainly deserves a spot in the list.
Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii wake ga nai! is decent, I guess. Enough for me to keep up with it, but not good enough for me to want to get it ASAP whenever a new book is released.
The
Seitokai series ranking so high is another thing I just don't get. I've read up to #5 and while I don't
dislike it, it feels really out of place on a top ten list. Maybe it's just me, but the series just gives off really amateur feel. The characters feel more like mouthpieces for the author than actual characters, the humour is just trying too hard and (for me, at least) failing hard, much of the dialogue feels forced, and there are attempts at being witty that come off as just being... well, not very witty. I used to be an avid reader of webcomics, and
Seitokai gives me the same feeling that many amateur webcomics did.
Amazon has been recommending me
Kami-sama no Memo
-chou for a looooooong time, I ought to check it out someday.
Now let me get to stuff that
isn't on the top ten list.
Full Metal Panic is #11.
Fucking bullshit. This isn't opinion, this is fact. That Furumeta isn't anything but #1 is already pretty ridiculous, but not even in the top ten? With stuff like Index and Seitokai up there?
Ugh. Just... ugh.
Ah well, in the end, it's a popularity contest. Out with the old, in with the new (especially if it a TV series recently!).
Soukyuu no Karuma isn't even in the top thirty, which I find disappointing, but at least that I had expected. I mean, come on, the 2channel thread is up to its
third thread. And the second wasn't even used up before it died from nobody using it. It's a pity, because the series is really good.
I'll write more once I've had time to read more of this. Maybe.
