This week's loot (1st April 2018)

Cleared Valkyria 4 and SRW X.

Valkyria 4 is basically just the first game again, except with more variety (but not TOO much like 2 and 3) in the gameplay and better writing. Straight up the best game in the series.

The gameplay in SRW X is a bit more fun than V's thanks to the new EX action and dogma stuff but the writing ultimately falls short. The characters that do get screentime are handled well enough but a lot are just in the background doing nothing for the whole game, the villains are terrible, and most of the series' stories are fumbled if even handled at all. Not bad, at least.

This week's loot (20th December 2015)

Watched Star Wars. It was okay. Not bad, but I can't honestly say it was good. Nothing outstanding. Just okay. I did like how Kylo Ren turned out, and the one tonfa trooper was a cooler enemy than the rest of the imperials combined. Finn and Rey were eh. Han turning out that way was understandable given Ford's age. The screening was on Friday, and it speaks volumes that I enjoyed the episode of Fafner that aired that night way more.

Already started on Miagete Goran, Yozora no Hoshi wo and cleared one route. It's really good.

Might as well report on stuff I've been playing lately:

Hatsurukotonaki Mirai yori: Mediocre. The worldbuilding is half-assed, and the plot in general is pretty unbalanced with terrible pacing. There's a huge, noticeable gap in quality between the parts done by different writers. Wrote a review on erosuke (Japanese). A lot of squandered potential.

Kokororisuta: Good writing, really good characters, interesting setting with good worldbuilding. Unfortunately a bit too short, but otherwise satisfying enough.

Steins;gate 0: Apparently based on a bunch of novels I never read. Oddly enough, the bits lifted from the novel (Stigma, the Recognise/Altair route) were the worst bits. Rinascimento was the best bit. Maho is a great character, as is the whole Amadeus thing. It's a pity that you're forced onto Altair in the last playthrough, and that the epilogue is unfulfilling. Hoping that they do more with Maho in the future.

Nitroplus Blasterz: I didn't expect a Demonbane sequel/DYN Freaks prequel but that's what I got and I was happy about it. Pity that it's a whole load of nothing.

I did start on Schwarzesmarken, which I put on hold after starting Miagete. Also got a DL version of FFX for the Vita, and finally started playing Senjou no Valkyria 3.

Have to say, all in all it's been a relatively good year for games (in fact it's too early to say that, considering how there're still two titles to be released within the year that I'm looking forward to).

Oh and that Star Wars tie-in Blue Force Mets Cola is absolutely fucking disgusting.

This week's loot (27th July 2014)

That's a new shikishi folder on the left in the last picture; I finally got round to trying to file the ones I'd had accumulating for some time only to find that my previous binder (the Akabee one from CM83) was full.

In addition to all this the Idolmaster movie Chihaya panel also arrived. No picture because I'm not bothering to take it out of the box. And yes I already had the Idolmaster 2 one too.

So yeah, watched Godzilla. See previous post for thoughts.

And if you haven't noticed, I've been reading Fables ever since I started playing The Wolf Among Us... what, a month ago? Two? I like it for the most part, but it seems to have a bad tendency of killing off characters suddenly and unceremoniously- Characters like Colin and Bluebeard just seemed to have way more potential (sure, they sort of come back in ways, but still). And I just finished volume 13 and it seems like it's starting to suffer from the typical American comic ill of trying to cram too much shit in and turning things into a clusterfuck as a result. I've only been reading Fables, not the spinoff stuff, so the crossover was just really fucking weird for me.

Oh, and if you've been paying attention to my erosuke page, you'll have notice that this week's releases bumped the total number of gyaruge/eroge in my possession to 399. One more to 400! According to my list of pre-orders the 400th should be the Grisaia spinoff Idol Mashoushoujo ☆ Chiruchiru Michiru, but I haven't been to Akihabara in some time (I didn't even know that the new Radio Kaikan was anywhere close to completion until I saw stuff about its opening on Twitter!) and plan on stopping by sometime and will probably buy games and stuff then. We'll see.

Loot (25th October 2013)

Not much lately as I've been too busy to get around much (plus rain on weekends). Eh.

Arpeggio's TV series is pretty cool so I went and got the comics. Ought to get round to reading them.

Totally unrelated but I've been chipping away at the entire Kiseki series all over again from the beginning. Cleared Sora 3rd and am currently on Zero (Evolution). Check out my Steam thing for random Sora no Kiseki screenshots.

Edit: Games!
