This week's loot (10th July 2016)

Yeah this post is over half a week late, eh.

Watched Independence Day 2 and FFXV Kingsglaive. Enjoyed both. ID4 2 is a dumb action flick like expected but I felt that it still managed to fall short (there wasn't anything at all that felt like it could come anywhere close to being as iconic as the first movie's city destroyers and the sequences with the White House and such). Loved what they did with the queen though.

Kingsglaive was alright. It's clearly an inconsequential prequel movie that can be completely summed up as "the evil empire killed the king and wrecked the city but the princess escaped". But it was fun and had more action and explosions than most Hollywood action movies and that's saying something.

Cleared Otome Domain. It was really good, but nothing more. Didn't really feel like the previous stuff NYAON wrote, and lacked that something special that Moshiraba and DMF both had that was what made me a fan in the first place. Still really good, though.

So I waited a bit on Shin Hayarigami 2 but the reviews looked good and I got it. Almost cleared, and aside from one chapter (4) they did deliver on their promise to bring back the old series- And more, because old characters are mentioned (and one shows up), the main characters turn out to be literal successors to the old series' protagonist, and the overarching plot from the old series that I thought was never going to be completed is actually continuing (the secret organisation that was behind stuff in the old series actually shows up in the main story for one thing). Looking forward to more of this (though I'm not sure about the stupid alien stuff).

Rebound from being away from almost a month resulted in me hitting Akihabara on a weekday.

Nemo was cool but in the same way as the rest of League is; You have fun spotting references to shit but the comic itself is pretty mundane. Bah.

Baldr Sky Zero 2's out this month; I'm planning on clearing Zero 1 ASAP to see if I should pre-order it. Plus I'd been searching for Fake Azure for some time (ever since Lost Azrite) but had never seen it on sale anywhere up till now.

Guess what I'm planning on doing to the Qubeley!

Been busy lately, managed to stop by Akihabara for the first time in... holy shit I just looked back at the blog and the last time I was there was in mid September. So yeah I kind of lost control of my buying impulse. As usual.

This week's loot (15th September 2013)

Jojo- I read up to partway through part 5 back in the day. Didn't really like it. The show and ASB (it's really not as bad as people say) got me interested in it again and I went and re-read part 4 again (part 4 is the best part. Fact) and then got all of part 6 and read that (skipped part 5 because see above). It was... weird. And then I got the first two volumes of Jojolion today and here I am.

Been hearing good things about Dragon's Crown. I hate the art style but the game sounds fun.

And yeah I finally caved in and got a new (well, used, but you get what I mean) Sega Saturn. I've never actually played YU-NO before, got it to see what the fuss is all about.

Edit: Can't be bothered to take a photo but I also grabbed the next two volumes of Jojolion.

Jojolion is weird.

Also I've been playing Prototype (it was on sale on Steam last week). It's pretty good. I kind of enjoyed Infamous 2 but that game was balls because it kept holding you back and didn't give you any fun stuff till near the end. It was a power fantasy which didn't give you any bloody power. Prototype still has you need to unlock stuff but at least it gives you cool stuff to play with from the start.

There's really nothing like blowing up helicopters by throwing cars at them.
